Thousands of fans gather from the early hours of the morning on the banks of the roads to attend the 56th edition of the Princess-City of Oviedo Rally. The early risers have already attended the Shakedown of Ribera de Arriba that has served the teams to make contact with the asphalt and the fans. For the second year in a row, a qualification has been held on the same course of the shakedown that has allowed, depending on the times, to choose the starting position.

The strategies have been exposed. As in the 2018 edition, the Asturian driver José Antonio Suárez Cohete has been the fastest in qualifying, with a time of 1: 30,141. If last year he decided to leave second, this year he preferred to do it in third position. Javier Pardo, who scored the fourth best time, will come out first, and second, Surhayén Pernía, who had the third best record in the 2.96 kilometers of Ribera de Arriba. After Rocket, Pepe López, who arrives at the Princess of Asturias as leader of the Spanish Asphalt Rally Championship and the Supercampeonato (S-CER). Chus Puras, Joan Vinyes, Robert Blach and Iván Ares, in that order, complete the first eight positions that will be in Morcín.

The position election ceremony was held at the Castillo Bosque de La Zoreda hotel, in La Manjoya, with a large amount of people. This act in which the teams begin to unveil their strategies increasingly attracts the interest of fans.
