This morning, in the Tea Room of the Campoamor Theater of Oviedo, the official presentation of the 56th edition of the Rally Princesa de Asturias - City of Oviedo was held. The details of the race have been explained, the winners have been announced by the Automobile Club Principado, which are the National Police Corps, the City Council of Oviedo and the president of Suzuki Ibérica, Juan López Frade.
During the event, all participants have made special mention of security and have praised the awareness campaigns that are being made and that will be carried out during the rally. The organization has explained that only a safe rally is a good rally. Another reason for pride is the commitment to sustainable mobility, something that will be possible thanks to the collaboration agreement signed with Renfe.
The first to speak was Julián Moreno, president of the Automobile Club Principality of Asturias and the organizing committee of the Rally. Moreno has shown his gratitude to all those who year after year have contributed to the test being held.
As in previous editions, the Automobile Club Principado de Asturias will give three awards in recognition of people or institutions that enhance the sport and especially rallies. It has been announced that this year, in particular, will be delivered to the National Police Corps, for its anonymous dedication, for its understanding and for the help that guarantees the development of a mass test without incident; to the City Council of Oviedo, which for 55 years, regardless of the political sign of the Government team, has always welcomed its rally with enthusiasm and made it a fixed date of September; and Juan López Frade, president of Suzuki Ibérica, for creating, developing and maintaining improving the best single-brand promotion cup that exists and that constitutes a fundamental basis for participation in the championship rallies of Spain and in the Rally Princesa of Asturias City of Oviedo In this edition the awards will be delivered on the starting podium, on Thursday 12, at 19:30.
After Julian Moreno, Ulpiano Nosti, career director of the test, has taken the floor. He has emphasized the constant evolution to which the organization is subject, adapting to new technologies, changes in regulations, etc., but always maintaining the illusion of the first day, "because without it none of this would be possible."
Carlos Márquez, president of the Federation of Motoring of the Principality (FAPA), has been proud to have in Asturias a test like the Rally Princesa, in which he presented the Volan Fapa a year ago , a remarkable brand that was a dream which has become a reality, with the participation of 13 teams in the national competition.
Manuel Avignon, president of the Royal Spanish Automobile Federation, has praised what is already the oldest race in the championship, scoring for the FIA ERT Iberian Rally Trophy (ERT Iberia), the Spanish Super Rally Championship (S-CER), the Spanish Terra Mundis Asphalt Rally Championship (CERA-TerraMundis) and the Asturias Rally Championship. He has also mentioned the economic return that the test has in Asturias, around seven million euros.
Concepción Méndez, Councilor for Sports of the City of Oviedo, has shown its full support for the test and the organization. The last to intervene has been Berta Piñán, Minister of Culture, Language Policy and Tourism of the Principality. Piñán has highlighted the great effort made by an amateur organization, which looks forward to the obstacles it encounters. He has also highlighted the values it represents.
